New study reveals main culprit for Alzheimer’s disease – ScienceAlert
It’s wonderful to see more and more studies are showing encouraging progress on Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
The article here reports that the Mayo Clinic has determined that the tau proteins in the brain are the main cause or path to Alzheimer’s disease. For a long time it has been thought that the amyloid plaques were responsible. While amyloid plaques do often cause cognitive decline, it is the tau proteins that ‘drives’ the disease.
The research studied over 3600 brains–a good number–some with the disease some without.
It’s a fascinating article with a short video clip.
